It still blows my mind that being a social media influencer is an actual career. Even more mind-blowing is the fact that they can make a lot of money doing it!
But when you think about it, shouldn’t we all be influencers? Shouldn’t we all strive to do great things and inspire others to do the same? Maybe not on social media, but in our everyday lives—we should aim to influence those around us to be a little better, a little kinder, a little stronger.
Coaches are some of the greatest influencers of all time. Our job is to take a group of individuals and motivate, teach, and guide them to become something greater than they could be on their own.
Players can be great influencers too. The team leader who not only talks about being great but shows it through consistent actions is the ultimate influencer.
At Ballogy, we want to help players improve. While that most often means developing athletic skills, we also genuinely want to help people grow into better human beings. We care about the mental health and well-being of everyone in our community. We want to make a difference.
Being a positive influencer can be as simple as smiling and saying “Good morning” to someone. It’s a fading skill in our society. Maybe it’s paying it forward in the coffee line by picking up someone’s tab. Positive influencers show up on time and do their work with pride. They see a job through to completion.
Are you being a positive influencer? Is there someone around you who simply needs a word of encouragement or support? Find one thing you can do today to begin your journey as a positive influence in the world.
We need more positivity and hope. We need more positive influencers. It may not return to you in dollars or fame, but being a positive influencer will always return great rewards. It will make the world around you a better place—and leave the people you interact with better for having known you.
And that, more than athletic success or personal achievement, is the greatest legacy you could ever leave.
Be an influencer.
